We did value scales for four different textures and materials: wood, stone, textile, and carpet. The top row of each pair shows a close up scale, and the bottom row shows a scale farther away. This was fairly difficult to do because it was not easy trying to capture both the texture of each material along with how different shades of light affected it.

LET'S RENDER SOME MORE
After becoming more experienced with rendering, we took two wire frames, that of our own and a classmate's, and rendered both. We then added scale figures and objects to the space to make it look more lively. I feel that the top rendering was more successful because more color was used and it didn't look so grey, literally.
BASEMENT RENDERING
This was the first assignment we were given to finally experiment with color. I thought I would love when this day finally came, but using color is actually quite frustrating. My first draft I merely experiment with how the color was going to look on trash paper. This was the second copy I did where I experiment with layering colors and capturing the light, and it was actually quite successful. I also went in with color pencil to add some shadows and extra texture. My third draft was done on printer paper which made the colors very saturated, so needless to say, I was not too impressed. The final two copies were experimenting with layering colors and shadows to create the most successful rendering.

HEADING FOR THE FUTURE
This header turned out to be more of a challenge than I originally assumed. As I was searching for fonts that best represented myself and a picture that represented me as a designer, I was getting a little overwhelmed. I had no idea what "represented" me, and that was a struggle.
I ended up choosing a "fun" font that was out of the ordinary. As a designer and a person, I make sure to have fun with my designs and the process of creating them. The cut-out lettering does a good job representing that fun and laid-back aspect.
I chose the pencil with the tip breaking because I feel as though that is what design is all about. We go in at something new and may have no idea where we will be taken. We use process of elimination to come up with the best idea, and that means getting rid of ideas and going onto better ones. For me, I know I make a lot of mistakes in the process and have to go back and fix them; that is like a broken pencil tip because once it breaks, you have to go back and fix it to continue on.
